Types of INSOMNIA

There are three types of insomnia:

1. Sleep Onset Insomnia

This Sleep Onset Insomnia is characterized by an inability to fall asleep. Typpically, the length of time it takes an adult to fall asleep is about eight to fifteen minutes. If you can't fall asleep after lying in bed for half an hour, you are experienceing sleep onset insomnia.

2. Maintenance Insomnia
This Maintenance insomnia is characterized by the inability to stay asleep. Basically, Maintenance insomnia is experienced in the middle of the night about 1-2 hours after falling asleep following the first sleep cycle. The inability to fall back to sleep after waking in the middle of the night can happen frequently throughout the night or only once. Usually, awakeings that last less thanb 7 mins will be forgotten the following day. However, many periods of awakening of one olong period can cause tiredness and irritability

3. Early Morning Insomnia
This Early Morning Insomnia is characterized by early awakenings. Normally, Early morning insomnia causes you to wake one to four hours before the normal waking time. This type of insomnia caused most often by depression. Also, the environment of the room can be another cause of early morning insomnia. Factors such as light and noise can easily disturb a sleeper in the last four hours of sleep when sleep is not as deep.
